Like humans, dogs and cats may require orthopedic services for numerous reasons. They could need surgery to correct a degenerative disorder or a congenital defect, or orthopedic surgery may be necessary to treat a severe fracture. Whatever the case may be, Animal Care Hospital of Walnut Creek is here to help and would be honored to assist with your companion’s care.
COMMON ORTHOPEDIC PROCEDURES
While many vets need to refer their patients to other practices for orthopedic surgery, we are proud to be able to perform a wide range of these often complex procedures in-house. This is less stressful for both you and your pet!
Animal Care Hospital of Walnut Creek partners with a local board-certified orthopedic surgeon who travels to our facility to provide surgical services as needed. This gives you all the benefits of a specialist’s care while still being able to stay at a familiar location.
Some of the most common orthopedic procedures we offer include:
- Fracture repair
- Dislocation repair
- ACL repair
- Femoral head osteotomy (FHO)
- Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO)
Keep in mind that this list is by no means exhaustive. If your furry friend needs a procedure not listed above, please contact us to see if we can help.
We perform comprehensive pre-op exams and run blood tests on all surgical patients to ensure they are healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. Your pet will also be closely monitored during and after surgery to ensure they are comfortable and safe every step of the way. We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and encourage you to give us a call if you have any questions or concerns before or after your pet’s operation.
